The App Manager is a separate utility used to configure the App Server and to view server-based audit and diagnostic logging messages.

The App Server configuration settings and logs are mainly stored in the App Server's App Server Configuration Database. App Manager views and edits the configuration settings and reads the logs from this database directly, it doesn't interact with the App Server itself.

Therefore, to access the configuration settings and logs for an App Server, you first need to give App Manager the connection details for the relevant App Server Configuration Database, which you do in the App Manager Options.

You can generally view and edit the configuration settings and logs stored in the App Server Configuration Database using a copy of App Manager which is installed on the same PC as the App Server or on a remote PC, providing the App Manager can connect to the relevant App Server Configuration Database from that machine.

However, if you want to change the database used as the App Server Configuration Database, you will need to run App Manager on the same machine as the App Server.
