Clone a Control
This feature is only available in Mixed Mode Projects where you have multiple Target Platforms. It allows you to share a Control between Platforms, much like the situation in Linked Mode Projects.
A cloned Control will have the same Properties across all Target Platforms to which you copy it, e.g. it will have the same name, data mappings and Scripts, but can be resized and repositioned differently on each form. When cloning the Control, any Scripts or data mappings attached to the original Control, will be copied along with the Control.
To clone Controls:
Select one or more Controls from a form belonging to one Platform, e.g. Android. Choose Copy from the Selection group on the Ribbon's Home or Design tabs. Alternatively, you can right-click on the selected Control, or where you have selected multiple Controls, on any one of the selected Controls, and choose Copy from the context menu.
Go to a form belonging to another Platform, e.g. Apple iOS.
Right-click on the background of the form and choose Paste As Clone from the context menu. Alternatively, click on the lower half of the split button Paste in the Selection group on the Ribbon's Home or Design tab and then choose Paste as Clone from the menu displayed.
You should see that the Control, on both forms, now has a chain-link icon drawn beside its bottom right-hand corner and within the Forms Pane tree view the icons for the cloned copies also have a chain-link to indicate cloned Controls.
