MX Ping Utility
This utility allows you to 'ping' the App Server to check that you can connect from a Windows device to the Digitise App Server service.
The Windows version of the utility is called MXPing.exe and can be found in the Product Download's Utils folder
Load the program in the normal way, e.g. by double-clicking on it in Windows Explorer.
The application will load and display a window which looks something like this:
Server Address
Type in the IP Address or DNS Name of your App Server or choose one of the following from the drop-down list:
127.0.0.1
Localhost IP address
<BROADCAST> - Send a broadcast over the network's local subnet to find any App Servers on the network. Any App Servers found will send a reply.
Server Port
Enter the Port number being used by your App Server or select one from the drop-down list. The default Port number used by Digitise Apps is 3431.
Ping Type
Select the type of ping you want to send from the drop-down list:
Status - Sends a UDP packet to the App Server asking for a status report. The server will receive this message via the Port configured for UDP and not via the App Server Port.
Speed Test - Sends a UDP Packet to the App Server and provides a rough guide to the connection speed (bits per second).
Transaction - Sends a TCP/IP message to the App Server.
Ping button
After entering the values listed above, choose this button to action the Ping.
Cancel button
Cancel the current Ping operation.
Clear button
Clear the results box of any displayed messages.
Close button
Close down the MX Ping utility.
Any messages sent back in reply to a Ping will be displayed in the box below the option fields. The information displayed here varies according to the Type of Ping you selected but any message returned from an App Server indicates the App Server is running and that the mobile device can talk to it.
