Update a Pre-Configured Client
If a new version of the Digitise Apps Client becomes available, you can simply rebuild a pre-configured Digitise Apps Client with the new version. You could also build a new Client if you wanted to change the configuration settings, even if the Client version has not been updated.
In addition, for the Apple and Windows Universal Platforms you can create a new signed version of the Client when the current code-signing Certificate expires.
If you are using the NDL Certificate for a Windows Universal version of the Client, this Certificate has a life span of approximately 100 years and shouldn't, therefore, need renewing.
If you are using your own Certificate for the Windows Universal Platform or if you want to build a pre-configured Client for the Apple Platform, you will need to obtain a new Certificate, and for Apple a new Provisioning Profile, before the current ones expire and upload the new versions to the Digitise Apps Build System.
Once the Build System has been updated, you can then generate new versions of the Client using the pre-configured Client build facility to obtain new versions of the Client for these Platforms.
When building a new pre-configured Client to update an existing Client, remember that the configuration settings, which can be set to read-only, set in the existing Client will only be overwritten if the configuration settings are set to read-only in the new version. Any configuration settings which are not set to read-only will not update even if they were set to read-only before.
You create your updated pre-configured Client in the same way as a new pre-configured Client.
Once you have created an updated Client, you can install it in the same way as you installed the original Client.
On the Windows Desktop Platform, the pre-configured Client build only includes the new configuration settings and you will need to update the standard Client in the usual way before you can then install the new configuration, if you want to update the Client version.
