System Requirements
This topic details the system specification that must be available for Form Server, Form Studio and Form Manager, and the Database Server, in order for a single instance of Digitise Forms to be installed successfully. See the drop-downs at the bottom of this topic for more information. For an explanation of our Minimum and Ideal requirements, see below.
- We advise provisioning Live, Development, and Test environments (using the same suggested system specification across all three environments), so that development and testing can be kept separate from any live/running processes. If you need help with specifying any of these environments, please contact your Digital Transformation Consultant who can arrange an infrastructure architecture session.
- Minimum - the minimum requirements needed to successfully run the specified NDL Evolve Platform module.
- Ideal - the ideal requirements for successful long-term running of the specified NDL Evolve Platform module.
Before attempting to install Digitise Forms, you must also make sure that the required third-party applications are available on the machine you intend to use. See the Third-Party Requirements topic for more information.
- While every effort has been made to provide specifications that provide an adequate, reliable system, the utilisation and exact specifications of your underlying hardware may impact overall performance. In most cases, the prescribed specifications should provide a reasonable starting point, but may need to be changed in line with future development and increased usage.
Digitise Forms are hosted using Microsoft’s Internet Information Services (IIS) Web Server (see the Third-Party Requirements topic for more information). This server will need to be accessible internally and/or externally within your organisation, depending on the target audience for your Forms.

| Disk | HDD, at least 60GB | SDD, at least 80GB |
Supported operating systems are:
- Windows Server 2019
- Windows Server 2022
- Windows Server 2025
- Form Server may be run alongside the servers for the other modules within the NDL Evolve Platform, but you should carefully consider the security implications before implementing this particular type of topology.
Digitise Forms are built in Form Studio, and managed within Form Manager. While both Form Studio and Form Manager can be run on your Form Server, we recommend using a separate machine to create and manage your Forms.

- Form Studio and Form Manager can be run alongside the Studios and Managers for the other modules within the NDL Evolve Platform, on the same system.
All data captured and displayed by Digitise Forms (along with the appropriate configuration data used within them) is stored in a Microsoft SQL Server database. This SQL Server may be run alongside Form Server on the system specifications provided above. Alternatively, if you already have a SQL Server instance within your organisation, this may also be used, although a dedicated SQL instance within this is typically required. If you wish to deploy a standalone SQL server, then we recommend the resources specified below. Please note however, that these specifications apply only to a SQL Server instance used by the NDL Evolve Platform, and may not be suitable if other services are run from this.
